What is the INTENT for Design & Technology at Woodheys Primary?
At Woodheys, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of designing and making functional products. We feel it is vital to nurture creativity and innovation through design, and by exploring the designed and made world in which we all live and work.
Our lessons are built around the six essentials of good practice - user, purpose, functionality, design decisions, innovation and authenticity to enable the children to make products that are believable, real and meaningful to themselves. Our children are taught to analyse, design, make and evaluate through a series of creative and well-structured lessons.
By the end of their Design and Technology journey at Woodheys, we believe our children have gained the confidence to be effective designers, makers and critiques of their own and others products to help them on their way to become the engineers and makers of the future, should they so choose.
